The MF72 series 2.5D-15 is a directly heated, power-type negative temperature coefficient thermistor. Its core function is to suppress inrush current during startup of electronic devices. Its rated zero-power resistance is 2.5Ω ± 20%, tested at 1.5VDC at 25°C. A material constant B value of 2600K ± 10% ensures consistent temperature response, and a low residual resistance of 0.071Ω significantly reduces steady-state losses.
A thermal time constant of 86 seconds and a dissipation factor of 18mW/°C create a combined thermal capacity of 1548mJ/°C, providing exceptional surge resistance and supporting a maximum steady-state current of 8A. It is compatible with capacitive loads of 820μF in 240V systems or 3300μF in 120V systems.
This 17.5mm diameter, 6mm thickness, and lead pitch of 10/7.5mm utilize a large 17.5mm wafer design. It offers multiple pin configurations with inward, outward, side, and straight leads.
With an operating temperature range of -40°C to 200°C, it's designed for high-surge applications such as industrial power supplies, high-power ballasts, and display driver systems. Its surge suppression capability is 30 to 100 times the operating current, requiring a heat density control design. Its 3.5W rated power meets the cooling requirements of compact spaces, and its long leads enhance soldering reliability.
