The MF72 series 2.5D-9 directly heated power negative temperature coefficient thermistor is designed for surge suppression in high-current scenarios. Initially, the device exhibits a high resistance of 2.5Ω, effectively suppressing peak capacitor charging currents. Through self-heating, the resistance rapidly decreases to a residual resistance of 0.11Ω, ensuring stable and efficient operation in high-current systems. Its 2600K material constant enables precise control of resistance characteristics over a wide temperature range.
The device has a rated zero-power resistance of 2.5Ω ±20%, calibrated at 1.5VDC at 25°C. A 35-second thermal time constant and 11mW/°C dissipation factor combine to produce a heat capacity of 385mJ/°C, providing excellent surge protection. Its maximum steady-state current of 4A supports large loads of 220μF in a 240V system or 820μF in a 120V system.
The device operates over a wide temperature range of -40°C to 175°C and has passed 200°C extreme temperature shock testing and 1000 cycles of 4A electrical stress cycling. It is suitable for high-power switching power supplies, industrial heating systems, and high-intensity lighting. Its ultra-low residual resistance significantly reduces conduction losses and improves energy efficiency.
It features an enhanced 11mm diameter wafer with a 5.5mm thickness, a phenolic resin encapsulation, and dual-gauge 0.55/0.75mm CP leads. It offers in-curve, out-curve, side-curve, and straight-leg mounting options.
