The MF72 series 5D-11 is a directly heated power negative temperature coefficient thermistor optimized for surge current suppression in electronic equipment. Key specifications include a rated zero-power resistance of 5Ω ±20% (tested at 1.5VDC at 25°C), a residual resistance of 0.16Ω, and a material constant B value of 2700K ±10%.
It supports a maximum steady-state current of 4A and is suitable for capacitive loads of 470μF in 240V systems or 1800μF in 120V systems. Regarding thermal performance, the product of a 14mW/°C dissipation factor and a 50-second thermal time constant reaches 700mW·s/°C, providing balanced surge resistance and thermal response characteristics.
The compact 13mm diameter × 5.5mm thickness package is encapsulated in phenolic resin and equipped with 0.75mm diameter CP leads. Four mounting configurations are available: inward-curved, outward-curved, side-curved, and straight-curved leads.
The operating temperature range covers -40°C to +175°C, making it suitable for server power supplies, industrial control equipment, and communications power systems. Its 5Ω nominal resistance effectively balances surge suppression requirements with steady-state power consumption. After self-heating, the resistance drops to 0.16Ω, ensuring low-energy operation. Its universal mounting compatibility is particularly suitable for high-density PCB layouts, providing reliable protection for medium-sized power electronic devices.
