The MF72 series 8D-15 is a directly heated, power-type negative temperature coefficient thermistor. Its core function is to suppress startup inrush current in electronic devices. Its rated zero-power resistance is 8Ω ± 20%, tested at 1.5VDC at 25°C. The material constant B value reaches 2950K ± 10%, the thermal time constant is approximately 86 seconds, and the dissipation factor is approximately 18mW/°C. The product of these two factors, 1548mJ/°C, provides high surge resistance. It offers a maximum steady-state current of 5A and a low residual resistance of 0.178Ω. It can support capacitive loads of 680μF for 240V systems or 2700μF for 120V systems. The device features a 17.5mm diameter and 6mm thickness design and is available in four lead configurations: inner lead, outer lead, side lead, and straight lead. The phenolic resin package and CP wire leads ensure reliability.
The operating temperature range covers -40°C to +200°C. It is mainly used in conversion power supplies, switching power supplies, UPS power supplies, electronic ballasts and various lighting equipment. Its strong surge suppression capability and low residual resistance characteristics ensure safe circuit operation.
