The MF72 5D-15 is a directly heated, power-type negative temperature coefficient thermistor designed to suppress inrush current during startup of electronic devices. Its rated zero-power resistance is 5Ω ± 20%, tested at 1.5VDC at 25°C. A material constant B value of 2800K ± 10% provides enhanced temperature sensitivity, while a residual resistance of 0.112Ω optimizes efficiency in high-resistance circuits.
A thermal time constant of 86 seconds and a dissipation factor of 18mW/°C yield a thermal capacitance of 1548mJ/°C, providing strong surge resistance and supporting a maximum steady-state current of 6A. It is compatible with capacitive loads of 680μF in 240V systems or 2700μF in 120V systems.
The device has a diameter of 17.5mm, a thickness of 6mm, and lead spacing of 10/7.5mm. The phenolic resin package incorporates 0.75mm CP wire leads, providing a four-pin design.
The operating temperature range is -40°C to 200°C, making it suitable for electronic ballasts, industrial heating systems, and high-resistance power supplies.
