The RS3AC-RS5AC SMC series of surface-mount fast-recovery rectifiers utilizes an SMC package optimized for automated assembly. They offer seven voltage ratings, covering reverse voltage levels from 50V to 1000V. The RS3 series supports an average rectification current of 3A at a junction temperature of 125°C, while the RS5 series reaches 5A. Peak surge currents are 90A and 120A, respectively. Glass-passivated chip junction technology ensures high reliability, with a maximum forward voltage drop of 1.3V at 1A and a reverse leakage current of only 5μA at the rated voltage of 25°C. The entire series is EU RoHS-compliant, with an ultra-thin 2.62mm package and a lightweight 0.22g design that significantly saves PCB space.
Thermal resistance is measured based on a 5×5cm copper pad: the RS3 series has a junction-to-case thermal resistance of 15°C/W, while the RS5 series is optimized to 35°C/W. The operating temperature range spans -55°C to +150°C, making it suitable for 60Hz half-wave rectification with resistive or inductive loads. When used with capacitive loads, current derating of 20% is required. These devices are MIL-STD-750 military standard soldering certified. Typical junction capacitance is 40pF for the RS3 series and 50pF for the RS5 series, with reverse recovery time as low as 150ns. They provide efficient solutions for rectification and freewheeling applications in switching power modules, motor drives, and industrial control systems.
