The S2ABF to S5ABF SMBF series of general-purpose surface-mount rectifier diodes utilize an ultra-thin SMBF package designed for surface-mount automated assembly. They are available in reverse voltage ratings of 50V, 100V, 200V, 400V, 600V, 800V, and 1000V. At a junction temperature of 125°C, the S2 series supports an average rectified current of 2A, the S3 series 3A, and the S5 series 5A. These peak surge currents are 50A, 80A, and 150A, respectively, tested using an 8.3ms single half-sine wave with the rated load.
The glass-passivated chip junction ensures high reliability, with a typical forward voltage drop of 1.1V at 1A and a leakage current of ≤5μA at the rated reverse voltage at 25°C. Compliant with EU RoHS directives, the 1.3mm maximum package height and 57mg weight significantly save PCB space.
Thermal resistance, based on a 5cm×5cm copper pad, is measured: junction-to-ambient thermal resistance is 40°C/W to 60°C/W, and junction-to-case thermal resistance is 12°C/W to 18°C/W. The operating temperature range is -55°C to +150°C and is suitable for single-phase half-wave rectification with resistive or inductive loads. When driving capacitive loads, the rated current must be derated by 20%.
This device is MIL-STD-750 solder certified. Typical junction capacitance ranges from 25pF to 45pF, increasing with current level. This provides a high-efficiency rectification solution for power converters, industrial control, and consumer electronics.
