The S3AC to S5AC SMC series of surface-mount general-purpose rectifier diodes utilize a low-profile SMC package and are designed for high power density. The series covers seven reverse voltage ratings from 50V to 1000V, offering average rectification current ratings of 3A and 5A at a junction temperature of 125°C, corresponding to peak surge currents of 90A and 120A, respectively. Glass-passivated junction technology ensures high reliability, with a typical forward voltage drop of 1.1V at 1A and a maximum reverse leakage current of 5μA at the rated voltage of 25°C. Compliant with EU RoHS directives, the 4.3mm pin pitch and 0.22g package weight optimize thermal dissipation.
The series offers a low thermal resistance of 40°C/W junction-to-ambient and 16°C/W junction-to-case, tested on a standard 2" x 2" copper pad. The operating temperature range spans -55°C to +150°C and is suitable for half-wave rectification topologies with both resistive and inductive loads. Capacitive loads require a 20% current derating. The terminals are MIL-STD-750 Method 2026 certified for soldering and feature a typical junction capacitance of 40pF to 50pF, providing a highly reliable rectification solution for industrial motor drives, photovoltaic inverters, and telecommunication power supplies.
