The SMC packaged series of ultra-fast recovery diodes utilizes glass-passivated chip junction technology and is optimized for high-efficiency switching power supplies. This series offers seven reverse voltage ratings, covering a range of 50V to 600V. The ES3 series supports an average rectification current of 3A, while the ES5 series supports an average rectification current of 5A. Both series operate continuously at temperatures up to 125°C. The surge current withstand capability reaches 90A for the ES3 series and 120A for the ES5 series. The ultra-fast 35ns reverse recovery time significantly reduces switching losses. Typical forward voltage drops range from 1.0V to 1.68V at 1A, while leakage current is as low as 5μA at rated reverse voltage. Thermal management is excellent, with the ES3 series offering a thermal resistance of 40°C/W and the ES5 series offering a thermal resistance of 35°C/W, tested on a standard 5cm×5cm copper pad.
The compact package has a maximum height of 2.62mm and meets MIL-STD-750 soldering requirements. The typical junction capacitance is 40pF for the ES3 series and 50pF for the ES5 series, tested at a 4V reverse voltage and 1MHz frequency, making it suitable for high-frequency rectification. The entire series complies with EU RoHS directives and has an operating temperature range of -55°C to +150°C. Capacitive load applications require a 20% current derating. These products are recommended for half-wave rectification circuits with resistive or inductive loads in industrial power systems, motor drives, and consumer electronics.
