The SMD1812 series is a two-electrode surface-mount ceramic gas discharge tube designed to protect communication, signal, and data lines from transient surge voltages caused by lightning induction and equipment switching. These devices offer high surge protection, ultra-low capacitance, and a wide breakdown voltage range. Their DC breakdown voltage ranges from 75 V to 600 V with a ±30% tolerance. These devices are rated to withstand surge currents of 2 kA with an 8.20 μs waveform and have passed 300 8.20 μs pulse life tests at 100 A. They feature extremely high insulation resistance (≥1 GΩ at 50 V or 100 V) and extremely low capacitance (maximum 0.5 pF at 1 MHz), ensuring high-speed signal integrity. Select models offer an optional short-circuit failure mechanism.
These devices comply with the ITU K.12 standard. Suitable for telephone interfaces, line cards, datacom equipment, repeaters, modems, line test equipment, main distribution frame modules, high-speed telecommunications applications such as ADSL and VDSL, and surge protection of power lines to help equipment meet stringent regulatory standards. The SMD1812 series adopts a compact 4532 (1812) package.
